Where Story Meets Stage: The Official Launch Party for Praise God for Pasties

I’ve been thinking, for a while now, about what it would mean to truly honor this book, Praise God for Pasties, at its launch.

Praise God for Pasties is a novel about Rebecca Coleman — a burlesque performer whose art form is the one place in her life where she is entirely herself. The stage is where she’s free. And then, through psychological manipulation she never sees coming, that freedom gets taken from her.

I didn’t want to celebrate this book with a reading at a table and a bowl of mixed nuts.

I wanted the launch to feel like the book: a little dangerous, a little beautiful, and completely honest about what it’s doing.

So here we are.

THE EVENING

On Sunday, June 28th, Cabaret on the Bay and Pink Crow Press are hosting the official launch party for Praise God for Pasties at Mosey’s in Panama City — and we’re doing it right.

The night will include live burlesque performance, a reading and signing with author Pamela G. Holmes, and the full Praise God for Pasties companion playlist spinning between sets. Come for the show. Stay for the book. Leave with both.

This is what I wanted the launch to be: the art form that shapes Rebecca’s story, honored in the room where the book becomes real.

WHAT THIS NIGHT IS ABOUT

Praise God for Pasties comes out June 17th. By the time we gather at Mosey’s eleven days later, I hope some of you will have already read it. I hope some of you will have followed the playlist and heard what Rebecca hears in the chapters before everything goes wrong.

And I hope, when the lights go down and the performance begins, you’ll understand something you couldn’t have understood before: why the stage matters. Why what gets taken from Rebecca isn’t just safety — it’s selfhood. Why burlesque, in this story, is never titillation. It’s the whole point.

“She was taken. Not by force — by design.”

Praise God for Pasties is a psychological thriller about coercive control and human trafficking, told through the eyes of a woman who never saw it coming. It is not easy reading. But this launch night is a celebration — of the book, of the art form, of the readers who are willing to sit with something true and difficult and beautifully strange.

Come celebrate with us.

PRE-ORDER THE BOOK

Praise God for Pasties is available for pre-order now through Pink Crow Press, Amazon, and wherever books are sold. If you’ve been waiting, don’t — launch week reviews and pre-orders matter enormously for a debut novel from an independent press.
