A poem
He said,
If you want unconditional love,
get a dog.
How sad,
I said,
that we spend our entire lives
searching, reaching, grappling,
for unconditional love
in another human,
in a partner,
in a friend.
How sad,
to discover that only dogs were ever
capable of giving unconditional love.
